ELECTION OF SUPERVISORS A BADGER FIGHT
The law of 1903 governing the election of road supervisors fixes the second Saturday after the fi-st Monday in January, 1905, and every two years thereafter as the date of suoh election. It does not contemplate an election under the Australian system but a comparatively informal affair. ■
The township trustee shall on or qefore he firat Monday in January post op ia at least two public plaoes in eaob road district of his township written or printed notices of.an election of supervisor, giving th|e place, day and hour of said eleo tidn. The place, of meeting shall bai a school house, if practicable. The trustee phail be the inspector of eleotioa in his ovn road district and shall appoint a resident free holder to act as inspeo or in ea)h of the other districts.
Each inspector shall appoint frqm the qualified voters present two o'erks, who with himself shall coqs itnte the election bpard. The inspectors and clerks thus appointed shall serve, without pay. but the trustee shall be entitled to his regular pay for ODe day for the day on whioh the notioea aforesaid ?re posted op. for odo day for the day of the eleotioa aforesaid, and for one day for the day Jon which he files report of election of supervisors with the olerk of the circuit oourt.

Immediately upon announcement that tbe palls are closed, the election botrd shall proceed to count the ballots, and during the oount all voters shall be excluded from the room in which the oouut is made, excepting only the eleotion board and two watchers, whe may be named, one by eaob of theolerks. Only thos* ballots shall be coanted whioh oontain tbe name cf bat one person, and mistakes iu spelling or in initials shall not be considered where tbe intent of tbe voter is evident.
