Wallace Was Acquitted.
Frank Wallace, was tr'ed in the cironit court, this w ek, on the charge of rape. Tiie victim was Edith the daugh er of John R. L vi, «f near K ney, and who was on'y a little p st 13 yenra old at the tim* 1 of the offense was committed at Kersey, the sth of last August. . Edith was sent to Kersey early that morning, ;from 'h->ir place about a mile distant to do a iftt'e trad ng. Wj le the e waiting for the st rekeeper to com a , she wandereitoa graia iffioe, some distance away, and according to her story, she was forced insif'e the offije, which closed with a spring Jock, by a man named Knight, and assau ted; and he went rut, and Wallace came in, assaulting her a'so, a'l according to her s*ory, which was told in a straight forward and circumstantial manner- Dr. S O. Johnson, examined the girl the same day, and testified to her having been assau'ted, and to her previous innooence. The jury after being out until 10 o’olook Wednesday evening, agreed on a verdict of not guilty. Knight the other tmm charged, made his escape, aud has never been arres’ed
