WHAT THE TOWNSHIP SCHOOLS COSTS.
State Statistician Johnson has prepared a series of tables showing expenditures from the speoial sohool fund of the state for the fi„oal yearending Jane 30,1903. This special fund is to pay alt expenses of maintaining sohoole with the exception of teaohete’ salaries. An ineresting item in the report is that it shoes that it ooat to maintain the sohools in the 1,015 townships ofthe state $2,224,556.56 These tables were prepared for the benefit and edification of the State Legislature. It has been intimated by members of the Indiana Legislature that there was extravagance in handling this speoial sohool fund.
