LEATHERMAN, Auditor of Jasper County, Indiana, do hereby certify that the repoit of viewers and engineer was Hied in my office for the Board of Commissioners of said County on October 3rd, 1904 as follows : State of Indiana I qe In Commissioners’ Court Jasper Countv l To October Term, 1904. No. 2849, In the matter of the petition of Larkin C. Logan etal for Gravel Roads in Gillam Township, known as “Independence Road,” “Vernon Branch," and “Central Gillam Branch.” We, the Engineer and Viewers, appointed by the Board of Commissioners of said County, in said Cause, beg leave to report to the Board as follows: In obedience to the order of the Board as set forth in the transcript thereof which is hereto attached and mad a part hereof we met on the 13th. day of September 1904, at the office of the Auditor of said County and were duly sworn as such Engineer and Viewers, which oath is attached to said transcript and made a part hereof. We then proceeded with two chain carriers to locate and mark out the line of the improvement as prayed for in the petition in said Cause the viewers acting as rodman j»nd marker, thus reducing the expense of such laying out and marking We located said proposed improvements as follows: Ist, ‘ The Independence Road.” Commencing at the North West corner of the North East Quarter of the North West Quarter of Section One (1) Township Thirty (3ii) North Range Five (5) West, and running thence South from Stake “O” to Stake 51 plus 93 feet on line between sections One (l/and Twelve (.124 where occurs a set off to the West of Thirty-One (31) feet and Two (2) inches, thence continueing South to Stake 65, a total distance ot 6,500 feet, thence West to Stake 78 plus 52 set t, a distance of 1,352 feet, thence South to Stake 158 plus B*4 feet, a distance of 7,951*4 feet, thence West to Stake 171 plus 35 feet, a distance of 1,33154 feet, thence South to Stake 237 plus 92*4 feet, a distance of 6.657 X feet thence West to Stake 258 plus 20 feet, a distance of 2,02754 feet, thence South to Stake 811 plus 44* i feet, a distance of 5,324)4 feet, thence West to stake 330 plus 84 feet, a distance of IJI3HX feet, thenoe South to feet, a distance of 10,366 North West corner of section Twenty-Nine (29) North, Ran West and there intersect a Gravel Road known and designated as the “South Gillam Gravel Road" making a total length of 43,450 feet known and designated as “Independence Road " 2nd “Vchmi Branch” Commencing at the North East comer of tection one (1.) township thirty (30) North, range five (5) west, and running thence west frpm stake (0) to stake 186 plus 84 feet, a distance .of IMtM feet to the north west comer of tbe uorth east quarter of section four (4) township thirty (SO) north, range five (5.) west, known and designated as the T * Vernon Branch of said “Independence Road.” 3rd, “Central Gillam Braach” Commencing at the North east comer of sec . tlon thirteen (13) township thirty (80.) north, range five (5), west and running thence west from state (0) to stake 98 plus 68 feet, a dlstanoe of 9tfß feet to the northwest comer of the north east quarter of the northwest quarter of section fourteen (14), township thirty (30) north, range five (5) west, known and designated as the “Central Gillam Branch” of said ‘•lndependence Road." Said “Independence Road” and said Branches thereof, being contiguous and connected, we have considered as one improvement We set stakes along the lines of said improvement at each one hundred feet, a separate set of stakes for each separate Branch of said improvement numbered from'*o"up to the number necessary to include the entire distance included in each such Branch of said improvement, On lines running north and south, we set said stakes twenty (20) feet west from the line Intended to be the centerline of said improvement. On lines running east and west we set stakes twenty (20) feet north from the line intended to be the center line of said improvement, With the exception of that portion of “Independence Road" included from stake 66 to stake 78 plus 52 feet, a distance of 1852 feet along which portion, the highway occupied by this improvement is only open to the width of about thirty (80) feet between fences, which fences appear to have been located in their present position at least long enough to have legally flxei the width of said highway, consequently we- set
