RENSSELAER 11 OAK WOOD 0.
Saturday’s game proved to be the fiercest contest the High School team has bad this session. The boys, however kept thjeir record clean, not allowing C!)ak Wood to score. Two of Oak Wood’s men did jot get up early enough to accompany the team which come on the mlilk train. With the team thus onppl* ed the Lafayette boys refused ' to play until 4.-00 o’clock when tliey expected their men to join them. Otherwise they would forfeit the the game. The concession was made to them and the game therefore was-delayed. The Oak Wood boys were a husky lot of fellows. While we have no definite statement of thbir weight, to say that they outweigh* ed the home team 15 lbs, per mjan is keeping within conservative limits.
The belated j layers arrived on the field at 4:05. Referee Fendig called the game at 4:10 Rensselaer kicked off to Oak Wood who caught the ball on the 25 yd line and advanced it a short distance. Oak Wood massed their heavy men against their opponents line and made their gains for three first downs, when Rensselaer got the ball on a fumble and with off tackle plays ploughed through the Oak Wood line for good gains. Rensselaer kicked on the third down, but Oak Wood after catching the ball made no advance, owning to Ellis' speedy work in tackling. Rensselaer soon reco\ er ?d the ball on downs and started in- with fast plays. With the assistance of the line which opened up excellent holes, Yeoman gained through the line while Dobbins and Gwin made their gains off; Oak Woods’ tackles. Rensselaer getting the ball at the center of the field and making a good return. The home team made long gains around ends and Gwin carri* ed the ball for a touch down just ns time was called. Parcells kickgoal Score 11 to 0. Michaels played a good game at center and Berry and Gerber did excellent work in the line as Woodworth and Hopkins as tackles took care of some of Oak Wood’s heavy weight*. The ends and backs carried out their part as well as already given. It was beginning to get dark when time was called. The attendance was good con-
sidering the delay and threatening weather, A crowd of entbusiaa high school girls were present and are to be commended for their loyalty to the team.
