MORE ABOUT GAME LAWS.
For the information of.our readers we publish the following from Z. T. Sweeney, Commissioner of Fisheries ard Game in Indiana, in regard to the license feature of the game laws: Secticn 10 of the game law says; ‘lt shall be unlawful to hunt with dog and shotgun any and all kinds of game from Ootober Ist to
November 10th of the same year; ezoept as provided in Section 11 of this aot-” The object of this closed season for forty days *is to keep every* body out of the field during that time and give all an equal chance when the open season for quail shooting comes in November 10th. There are many lawless people who go out with the avowed purpose of shooting rabbits, practicing
their dogs, etc., who have been in the habit of killing quail before he can get into the fields. With a forty day dosed season the law-
-abiding hnnter has an equal bhanoe with the lawless hunter.
There is, however, a provision in Section 11 whioh allows men >vho live in those parts of the state
Shere duoks and wild water fowls *e passing through in Ootober id will be out of the state before [ ie 10th of November, to hunt iem under a license, and these ) oenses have been made very • iriot too as not to permit quail ([looting under them, but only iirds of passage, and whioh if not filled in Ootober oan not oe killed ,t all. This is the sole objeot of
the license. Residents desiring to hunt quails, rabbits, squirrels and other sorts of game, in their regular 6eason, need no license whatever.
