SAW THEM MAKE HISTORY.
A new feature at the City Council Meeting Monday night, was the attendance, in a body, of the Bth year grade of the city sohools under tha guidance of the teaober of History. The purpose, of course was to witness the making of history, by our oity fathers, right at first hands. The sohola took notes of the proceedings aud from some disoussion heard later, the following are some of the features of the u eeting, considered as specially noteworthy: The oounoilmen all .talked with their mouths shut, hence the scholars oould understand but little of what was said. The reason for this talking with the mouth shut was generally considered to be an indication of superior wisdom, for are not all wise counselors, proverb, tally olose mouthed?
Another faot noted with an interest was that one apeoially wise looking gentleman presumably the oity attorney, sat with his feet elevated considerably above his he d. The philosophical reason for this attitude was generally considered to be a desire to induce a greater flow of blood into the bra’n at the expense of the feet, it being presumed that the party was a thinker rather than a kicker. The mayor also came it for some very complimentary notes on aoooant of the excellence of his long range target practice at the oourt room spittoon. He shot without a range finder and necessarily,' a few shots went a little wild till he found the range, but after that he scored a bulls-ey e 79 times out df a possible 10P.
