WILL PAXTON’S BIG CONTRACT.

Will G. Paxton, now of Hammond, but one of the Paxton boys raided in this vicinity, has just captured one of the biggest lumber contracts ever given io Northwest ladiana. Regarding it tbe Hammond Tribune says: —Contractor J. W* Reed has let the sub contract for the lumber and other mater al for the wood construction on the new Reid Murdoch factory. W. G. Pax‘on and company were tbe Incky bidden and secured the big plum. The contract is probably the largest order for lumber ever let in Hammond and the fact that a Hammond firm was able to secure it against the competition of the big Chicago houses speaks well for the loosl concern. The building will require in the neighborhood of one and a quarter million feet of lumber of various sorts. A better idea of tots enormous amount is gained if the lumber, piece by piece was placed end to end. The result would be a string of lumber extending between twenty three and fonr miles or several miles beyond the distance between Hammond and Chicago.
