OLD RAILROAD TALK REVIVED
There is some revival of the talk of a railroad from Sturgis, Mich, to Danville, 111., of which considerable was heard a number of years ago, and which, if built, might possibly strike some part of Jasper county. Regarding this old project the Argus Advance says: Some eight years ago a proposition to build an electric railroad from Sturgis, Mich., to Danville, 111,, received considerable attention, many townships along the line voting subsidies. We now assert that same electric line proposition is much alive, with excellent prospects of being built if right of way can be secured. No bonus is asked for by the parties interested, and today the work of adjusting the right of way has been undertaken, The proposed route is practically the same as surveyed: Sturgis to Goshen, where some forty miles is complete and in operation, Goshen to Wakarusa, thence either to Bremen or Nappanee, Bourbon, Argos, Culver, Monterey Winamac, from that point southwest to Danville.”
