RENSSELAER 69 HAMMOND 00.
The above heart-rending score is what the Hammond high school lads had to report when they returned home Saturday evening, after their game of football with the Rensselaer high school team. The Hammond boys were a nice lot of fellows and they played a plucky game, under most diecouraging'oircumstanoee, y et they were as chaff before the wind to our big husky high school boys; who were enough bigger end brawnier than the Hammond boys, that each one of our boys might have carried a Hammond boy on his back, and then played a pretty swift article of football, thus weighted. It was a nice clean, gentlemanly game, however, all around and marked throughout by the utmost courtesy and good feeling. And though the Hammond boys were naturally greatly disappointed that they could make no better showing against our boys, they at least went home with the consciousness that they bad put up a gritty game, and that they had the re speot and admiration of our players end people, accordingly. The attendance at the game was fairly good.
