John Daley’s Body Arrives.
The body of John W. Daley, arrived as expected on the 4:30a. m, train Thursday. It wasJn Care of C. E. Cole, of Detroit, Mich., superintendent of the traveling agents department of the D. M. Ferry Seed Company. It was he who went to Knoxville, Tenn., and ident fied the body, and transacted all arrangements for bringing it back. The casket was opened by Undertaker Wright, immediately on arriving and fonnd to be still in good condition. His injuries were not such as to disfigure him at all scarcely. The hurt that was fatal, and probably instantly so, was across the lower part of the foreherd, and crushed the skull. Mr. Rose thinks that when the shock of the collision came John was thrown violently against the back of the seat in front, thus causing the injury. H i says many others in the car were hurt in much the same way. John’s hip was also crushed in. The place where the wreck occured some 18 or 10 miles from Knoxville is a wild region surrounded by miners and other rough mountain people. It was some hours after the wreck before a relief train could be organized ’at Knoxville and reach the scene, and during this time the pockets of most of the dead people had been rifled and their money and valuables taken. That Mr. Daley’s body was among those thus’robbed is evident, Mr. Cole acting for the D. M Ferry people, spared no trouble nor expense in securing the body, and having it prepared and fitted for shipment and burial. Immediately on its arrival it was taken out to his parents’home at Sharon. The funeral will be,held Friday, at 10 o’clock a. m. at the residence at Sharon. Rev. H. L. Kindig of Rensselaer will conduct the religious services. Interment will be in Crockett cemetery.
