EDITOR SWAIN WILL RUN IN VAIN

Some 25 Democrats, more faithful than hopeful, met in Hammend Tuesday afternoon, and made a bunch of district nominations. W. H. Breece of Michigan City was nominated for superior court judge for the Lake, Porter and LaPorte, circuit, and J. M Voorhees of Valparaiso, for prosecutor, for the Lake-Porter circuit court. For candidate for joint representative for the Jasper and Lake district, to run against Hon. Jesse E Wilson, of Rensselaer, 8. E. Swain, of Hammond, editor {of Hammond News, was nominated, Nekon J. Bozarth, the perennial Nelee, of Valparaiso, was chairman of the first two conventions, and U. M. Baughman, of Rensselaer, chairman of the third. Mr. Swain was secretary of the whole bunch. Speaking of Mr. Swain’s nomination, the Hammond Tribune say: "S. E. Swain of the Hammond Daily News was nominated for joint representative to oppose Jesse Wilson of Rensselaer. Mr. Swain’s choice seems to be a just reward for the conscientious labors he has exerted for the Democratic party. He is a gentleman of considerable ability and it is to be regretted that the lot should fall to him to lead the forlorn hope. He is worthy of a better fate.” U. M, Baughman, J. J. Hunt, and J. H. Jeeson represented Jasper county at the convention.
