State Geologist's Annual Report.

The 28th annual report of the State Geologist is at hand. It is aoootnpained by an accurate sectional geological map of Indiana which is a very valuable feature of the work. The map is a very large one, being on a scale of a quarter of an inch to the mile and is the best geologist map of the state ever published. Mr, Bletchley has been working on it for nine years. Much of the book is devoted to the oil, lime and coal resources of tbe State. The chapter on the Niagara limestone of northern Indiana by E. M. Kindle contains much interesting information for the student of geology in these parts. There is also a geological study of the Winona Lake region by W. M. Mills. A very valuable feature of the book Js an index to the Geological Report from the first to the preset, compiled by T. 0. Hopkine. The portion of the work devoted to oil has several pages in regard to the Gillam field in this county, and which, on the whole is very favorable. This is the ninth report issued under tbe auspices of State Geologist Blatchley, who has contributed more to the geological literature of Indiana than any other incumbent of the office.
