MANY EMPLOYED IN PRISON.
Binoe the adjournment of the prison reform ooard. figures have been given out from the office of the state board of charities whioh show conditions in the state reformatory as regards the number of man employed in the prison oontraot work. Under lhe present law only onehalf of the population of the state prison may be employed on oontraot labor. The number that may be employed on any contract is limited to ICO and the work to eight hours a day. Warden Reid’s reports shows that there are 100 men employed on eaoh of the four prison oon* tracts now in force cooperage, chair making, knitting mill work and shirt making. The state receives for eaoh man employed daily wages ranging from 40 to 44 cents I
