Maccabees Oppose Increased Rates.

The readjustment and increase on monthly rates, or &:sessments as adopted at the regular review of the Supreme Tent, Knights' of the Maooabees, at Detroit last month is not meeting with favor by the general membership and many threaten to leave the order, says the Hobart Gazette. It praotioally puts the older members “out of business” at the age of 55, when the rate is next to prohibitory. There seems to be a conoerted movement on foot among the tents of this state to stick to * the order for a few years cr unttl the present officers can be excused and new ones put in their places, under the pledge, that at the next meeting of the Supreme Tent the doings at the last review will be. undone and another revised rate table inaugura. ted. ii would seem that suoh a plan would be diffioult of oarrying out but tbe body is greater than the offi. oers it selects to manage the new organization and perhaps it can be accomplished. One thing is certain, Maooabeeism has reoeived a very bad black eye.
