The Contrast Between Hinduism and Christianity.
This subjeot was foroibly presented Wed. evening at the Methodist ohnroh, by Mrs. Elizabeth A. Reed of Chicago. The priests of Hinduism are on the platform of the large oities claiming that the Christ borrowed his gospel from India, but Mrs. Reed showed that 1 his teachings were not only different, Jout the very opposite of theirs. It is the sound, the intonation of the sacred Sanzheit as well as the sacred Arabi wbioh is of primary effioaoy. Hence a family of batez living in a cave are said to have been born into a higher life in oonseqnenoe of hearing some one repeating a sacred poem. Christianity is ss different from Hinduism as faithful work is different from complete idleness, as different as hope from dispair. The books of Hinduism teach meu 'to seek for annihilation, eternal death while tne Bible admonishes them to set k for glory, honor, immortality, eternal life. Mre. Reed was greeted by a large and appreciative audience although so many of oar people .are ont of the oity. Dr. Kindig, the pastor of the ohnroh paid a glowing tribute to the leotnre at the dose and it is that Mrs. Reed has been invited to fill his pulpit on Bnnday evening next. Mrs. Heed will be the gnest of Mrs. Mary E. Thompson until the 26th.
