Big Failure at Monticello.

Shields Brothers, one of the leading dry goods firms closed its doors Tuesday morning, having made an assignment for the benefit of creditors. The company had evidently been doing jt good business, and the sudden turns in affairs was a surprise to the publio. It is said the firm bad overstocked for the summer trade, and the 000 l weather w 66 against them. The liabilities are $23,000 and the merchandise, it is thought will invoice near this amount. General sympathy is expressed for the firm and it is thought it will yet be able to resume business.
