Darius Green and His Flying Machine

It remained for J. P. Holland, inventor of the submarine boat, to promise the ideal flying machine, to cost only $lO apiece, which he has just announced from New York. His machine consists of wings like a bird’s, and he says the method of travel will be safer than a bicycle and that one can fly from New York to Chicago in one day. Mr- Holland is a great inventor and seems convinced that his machine is a sure-enough high flyer. But many another great inventor has wrestled with this most difficult problem the inven* tive genius of man ever encounter* ed and was confident be had solved the problem, only to find he had wretchedly end wholly failed when put to a practical test.

We do not believe the machine ever has been or ever will be invented whereby a man will fly by his own strength, as this of Holland’s proposes. His case is probably only another instance of “Darius Green and bis flying machine.”
