Militiamen Are Under Strict Laws.

Logansport Reporter: If Captain Fitch, of Logansport company of national guards, does not rescind his order, Private Montgomery will serve three days in the county jail for, failure to attend drill, Under the rules and regulations, which are as strict as the regular army, the men must attend drill if they have no legitimate excuse, and Montgomery did not appear to have one, as he was arrested by a squad of soldiers while calling upon his best girl. For the offense, Captain Fitch fined him three dollars which Montgomery refused to pay. According to the law, a failure to pay a fine means imprisonment and last night Captain Fitch ordered that the money be paid before Friday night or a soldier would be placed behind the bars, of the Cass county jail.
