Healthy Month.

Marked improvement in tbe public health is noted by tbe state board of health in June as compared with the preceding month and also the corresponding month of last year. There were fewer deaths and fewer cases of transmissible diseases. Rheumatism was the most prevalent disease, The total number of deaths was 2.203, a rate of 10.1 as against 2,265 in 1903, a rate of 10.9. The country death rate was 8.2 and the city 1,3.6. Tuberculosis caused 363 deaths; typhoid fever 44; diphtheria 15; scarlet fever 9; measles 10; diarrhoeal diseases 53; brain fever 14; influenza 10; child bed fever 11; cancer 71 and violence 125. Of the deaths from violence six were murders, 22 were suicides and tbe remainder accidental.
