The Usual Way.
great man expressed a gem of wisdom when he said that you can always count upon the Demooratio party doing the wrong thing-at just the right time. How true that is. Look at Parker for example. He had been nominated at the moat enthuaiaatio Demooratio convention held in recent years. He had for months successfully evaded the most searching investigation as to hie belief on every itrportant subject. His platform was a« broad as the heavens above and with no signs of embaraasing declarations. It was all things unto all people and was as free . from conviction as Parker lies been in the past. The »i men ’-’•H apparently centrolled the convention and mad - t .e pint o n». >»-t they <Ol seated i.» n g .Id imn from Ne>v York L<i w tne nominee. It «•*< tie tn brilliant and auceesstui atrrd. He iu merioau history, and after years of warfare the Democratic party was united. But here Parker enters and kicks the bucket over. He telegraphs the convention that the platform looks too much *’ke silver for him, that he is a old bug and if they dont want tch they had better name a new an before they leave Bt. Louie. The convention is thrown into a a panic, hundreds of delegates tear off their Parker badges and trample them under foot and all the good work of the convention is undone. And there you have it. In many sections Parker is now hated worse than Cleveland and his defeat is as sure as the election comes in November. It will be the same in Colorado and in Fremont county. Just let it alone and the Demooratios party will defeat itself, —Canon City, Colo., Record.
