Death of Dr. Ernest Mayhew.
The sad news came by telegram Wednesday, of the death of Dr Ernest Mayhew, only son and last surviving child of Mr. and Mrs. Charles P. Mayhew now of Red Bluffs. Calif, but formerly of Rensselaer, where Ernest was bornHis death occured Tuesday, either at his parent’s, residence or at a mountain resort near there. The cause of his death is understood to have been consumption, and his sickness has been of quite long duration, and he spent the winter in Arizona, He was born in Rensselaer and was about 28 years old, a young man of fine character and promise.
His death is the last in a most lamentable series, which have left his parents childless in their old age. Two years ago last May, Ernest’s wife and youngest sister both died the same day. About a year later his other sister died, and new his death comes as the last blow tj his sadly bereaved parents. He has numerous relatives in Rensselaer and vicinity.
