Shorty Brought Up Short.
Leonard Adams, alias Shorty, was put under arrest here this Saturday morning, loaded into a vehicle, and oarted over toWoloott to answer to a charge of larceny. Some weeks ago Shorty was in trouble with the oourts here and ined. He promised them if his name was kept out of the papers, re would henceforth be real good. Present appearanoes do not indicate that he kept the promise very long. His previous trouble arose from monkeying with oorn juioe. This time the same grain in the solid orm has brought him into misfortune. He has been working for Andy Charles, who lives on the Dr. Basser land in Milroy Tp., and aooording to the story Len and Andy went over into White county and stole a wagon box full of oorn from a orib in a field, the oorn belonging to a man named Duffy. Charles was oaught “with the goods on him," so to speak and owned up and implicated Shorty. Town Marshal Jim Pemberton, of Wolcott, oame over with a warrant for Shorty, and he and Marshal Abbott arrested him. The oorn was said to have been stolen to feed Charle’s horses, hence it would seem, Shorty is not so muoh to blame as the other man.
