Democrats Fill Comity Ticket

The Demooratio county oentraT committee met here Saturday afternoon, and fill all tbe vaoanoies, and supposed vaoanoies, on their oonnty tioket. For oonnty assessor they selected Wm. D. Bringle. of Jordan Tp. For oonnty surveyor, Thomas Mallatt, of Union Tp. They also, on advice of attorneys. nominated three candidates for oonnty commissioners. Namely: First distriot, Wm. 8. DeArmond, of Kankakee township. Seoond district, John F. Ryan of Gillam township. Third district, Karah MoKillopp, of Milroy Tp. Tbe Republicans have nominated only one candidate for commissioner, namely John F. Pettit, of Walker Tp. They hold that there will be no other until after tbe eleotion of 1906 The Demoorats, on the other hand, hold not only that Mr. Halleck’s term is out Jan. 1, 1906, but that one of the other commissioners’ time was out the Ist of this present year, and that he is now only a has been and a hold over, and that anothers term will expire Jan. Ist, 1905. They reaohed these oonolnsions on the strength of oertain laws and decisions, whioh have oonvinoed (hem that when a commissioner is eleoted nr appointed to fill a vacanoy, his term only extends nntil his successor is eleoted and qualified. Whether the Republican committee will oonolnde to follow the aotion of the Demoorats and nominate two more commissioners, will not be decided nntil after full investigation, and consulting high legal anthority.
