The Christian Church Subscriptions.
The congregation and Sunday sohool of the Christian ohuroh here has grown so constantly and fast that the goodly sized frame ohuroh they built some eight or ten years ago, has been out grown entirely, and a larger and more oommodious church building has become an absolute necessity. The members have taken up the work of erecting a new building with a zeal and determination which will make a failure impossible In fact the new ohuroh is already a certainty, and the only question now is, how good a building it will be. The members of the ohuroh themselves with a liberality and public spirit never surpassed by any ohuroh congregation in Rensselaer, have subscribed SB,OOO. This will put up a good building and a large building; but not good enough nor large enough. In pursuance of the oustom all other ohurohes have adopted, they axe now asking for contributions from outside the ohuroh. They hope in this way to add at least $2,000 more to the building fund, whioh will make SIO,OOO in all, and whioh sum will cover the erection of a building that will 6erve the purposes of the congregation for many years to' oome and be a credit and an ornament to the town. Money spent on ohurohes is always a good invescment for any community, and especially when tne proposition is to build a large, permanent and handsome structure, as this will be, Therefore their request for outside contributions is entirely proper and reasonable, and should meet with a generous response. The following are a few of the larger subscriptions to the building. The Ladies Aid Sooiety $1,500; W. 8. Day SSOO, O. W. Coen SSOO, J. L. Brady SSOO.
