Rural Routers’ Salaries Boosted.
Beginning with this Friday, July Ist. the salaries of oarriers on rural free delivery routes will be quite largely inoreased. Namely from S6OO per year to $720, an increase of $lO per month. This $720 is the maximum rate and applies only to routes of 24 miles or more in length. For routes under that length there is a sliding scale which knocks off about $9 per year for each mile less than 24. We believe all the routes in Jasper county are fully 24 miles long, and therefore all our carriers will reoeive the full $720. There are now, or will be after July Ist, ten rural routes starting from points in Jasper county. Namely four id Remington, three in Rensselaer, and one eaoh in Fair Oaks, Wheatfield and McCoysburg. These ten oarriers will draw from Uncle Sam a total of $7,200 per year. Another route is ready to start from Rensselaer as soon as a carrier is seleoted. Besides these ten routes named there are at least three others which touoh parts of Jasper county, namely from Goodland, Franceeville and Medaryville.
