Rice Porter's Fine Record.
Rice Porter, eon of Walter V. Porter who graduated this week at Northwestern Mili'ary Academy, at Highland Park, 111., kept up his great record as an athelete, to the end of his course, At the closing field day contests he won Ist prize a gold medal in the 120 yard hurdle race, another go'd medal for Ist in the 220 yard run; also first in the 100 yard run; also first in 100 yard dash, time 10 2-5 seconds. Ako third in broad jump and third Jin high jump; and still one other third, the event not reported here. But better than any of these was a big gold medal for being the best conducted and most gentlemanly cadet in the entire cohoo! for the past school year. And yet one other high mark of distinction he received, was an appointment as Second Lieutenant in the First Regiment of Illinois Na-
tional Guard. Rxe’s eie'er Miss Fannie Porter also achieved distinction in athle l .ics, nt St. Mary’s Academy, at Faribault, Minn. She got L»t in the 100 yard dash, and three or four thirds in other events.
