After seriously injuring his wife and daughter and perhaps fatally wounding Mrs. David W. Morris in Muncie, Matthew Meehan was captured after a sensational chase by the police. More than a score of men were held at bay for a time by the desperate man, who, after being captured at the point of a revolver, liad to be clubbed into submission. Meehan, who is a resident of Whiteley, a suburb of Muncie, became enraged and beat his wife into insensibility. He then caught his daughter Pearl, aged 18, who endeavored to escape, and was mercilessly beating her when some neighbors interfered.
