Apportientment Act Invalid.
The Supreme Court Wednesday hand'd down its decision in the legislative apportionment oases As.was generally expected, thedeoision was thatthe last apportionment law, that of 1903, is unconstitutional, on account of political unfair ness, and it is declared void. Under this decision the representatives and state seuat jrs will this year be elected under the law of 1897.
means tuat Jasper county will have a joint representative with Lake county, and for a senatorial district still be united with Newton and White counties. Jesse E. Wilson, of Rensselaer is the present j unt representative, and E. B. Wolcott of Wolcott, is the present state sentor. Mr. Wilson is not a candidate for re election as representative, but is a can didate for state senator. Mr. Wol cott is also understood to be a candidate for re-election.
