Progress of the War.
The war in the east has been making’great progress during the past week, and everything has been in favor of the Jape. After several successive exhibitions of heroism and self-sacrifice that discounts everything since the time of Leonidas and his 300 Spartans, succeeded in fully olosing up the entrance to Port Arthur harbor, thus bottling up and making useless the strong Russian fleet inside. Two big armies have been land-
ed, one on each side of the narrow I peninsula, north of Port Arthur, I and now that place, so basely stolen from the Japs ten years ago, is cut off and surrounded, and will be besieged from all side s. Following their great land victory on the Yalu river, the Japs, have driven the Russians out of Fen-Wang-Cheng, a very important point, and New Chwang has also been evacuated and Dalney is captured.
