Why He Dropped.
There was one amusing incident re* ported by a member of the Bluebeard company, says the New York Commercial Advertiser. When the fire was first discovered an Irishman, called Pat, was up In the setae loft He yelled fire, then he opened a window and went out over the alley, hand over hand, on an electric wire. He held there but a moment, swung his legs a bit looked down, swung his legs again, then closed his eyes and dropped. He was picked up supposedly dead, but recovered consciousness at the hospital and in a few days was out on crutches. “Why did you drop, Pat?” some one asked him; “you should have waited for a fire net.” “Indacle, now; well, O 1 wuz too afraid the wolre ’ud break, sor.”
