Unanimously Nominated For Mayor But Afterwards Declined Committee Names G. H Maines. At the Democratic City convention, at the court house Thursday night, Geo. A. Strickfaden, the well known saloon keep r, was nominated for miyor by aicLma’ion, and went in with a whoop, and without a disseuting voice. Mr. Strickfaden made a short address in which he practically aocepted the nOmin«tion and promised to make the best run he oonld, auc the best mayor he could if elected Later however he met with some of the leaders, and after consultation he notified the oommiuee that he would not accept the nomination.

Fur Marshal John and Abe Sitnpson were proposed John was nominated by 26 votes to 11 for Abe. For C luooilmen in the First Ward, Austin O. Moore and A. J. McFarland were nominated. In the Second Ward, Jake Eiglesbaoh aad John Shanlaub. The nominations in the Third Ward were left to the city committee. The committee met last Ffiday forenoon, and filled the vacant plaoes on the ticket. For mayor Geo. H. Maines, for oo.unoi'man in the Ist ward in place of A. O' Moore, who declined, Smith Newell.
