The City Council.

The most important business transacted by the City Connoil, at their regular meeting Monday night, was making a oontraot with the Victoria Coal Mining Company of Linton, lod-, for coal for tbe oity power station, for the ensuing year. The oontraot prioe is $2.60 per ton, on traok in Rensselaer, for rnn-of-mine coal. This is 10 cents per ton less than last year. It i» estimated that about 1,500 tons will be required, A resolution to grant the patition for a sewer on Weston street was adopted. Tbe sewer will start south of Washington street and then join the Division and Siott street sewer, which empties into the river sonth of town. The oity engineer aud attorney were dieoted to prepare the neoeasary plans and ordinance. The treasurer’s monthly report was reoeived aud tbe usual number of olaims aoted upon.
