Celebrated Cattle Case Decided.

The Supreme Court has at last made its final decision in the ceieTanner and case that has been so long before the courts and has been so much litigated.

The title of the case was Halligan vs Tanner et al. It grew out of the celebrated cattle shipping affair of four or five years ago, in which several hundred head of cattle were shipped, mostly to the Sanson Commissionfirm of the Chicago Stock Yards. After several trials and mistrials, the Halligans got a judgement in White county of $5,000 against the commission firm and SI,OOO against S. A. Dowell.

They wanted the judgement however against Stephen Thayer and Wm. W. Burns, as being more collectible and therefore they appealed to the Supreme Court. That now dismisses the appeal, and practically leaves no recourse for the Halligans. The Sanson company has long since failed and gone in liquidation and Mr. Dowell has moved out of the state.
