The Democratic state committee met at Indianapolis yesterday and decided to hold two state oonven. tions this year. The first will be held May 12, to select delegates at large to the national convention. The second will be held July 29 to nominate a state ticket.
According to the Remington Press Dr. P. J. Pothuisji and wife will return to that place about April 15th. They have been in California and Mexico all winter and had some though, as we understood, of locating in California permanently.
It is stated that plans are completed for a new depot at Shelby to replace the one burned a few weeks ago, and to be used, as before by the Monon and Three I roads It will be a much better depot however, having two waiting rooms, and separate baggage and freight rooms. Brook Reporter:—“Dad” Collier received the material for his big house-boat this week, and will commence on its construction at once. When complete the boat will be about 15x35 feet. He proposes to launch the boat at Brook and float down to the mouth of the Mississippi river. Some three or four will make the trip with him which is expected to take from six weeks to two months.
The attorney-general has been asked for an opinion as to what can be done with John Terrell the wealthy Bluffton man convicted of killing his son-in-law, Melvin Wolf. He is supposed to be suffering from paresis and is confined in a narrow cell in the Bluffton jail. The trial judge has refused to sentence Terrell on account of his insanity, the insane hospital will not receive him because he has been convicted of crime and he cannct be sent to a sanatorium beoausa the law provides for no bond for a prisoner after conviction.
