Halsteac in regard to Congr?s. man Crum packer’s supposed hostility to in creasing the salaries of rural ron’t carriers, Mr. Halstead frankly admits he was mist ken in regaru to Mr. Crumpaoker's stand in tha matter, but he does not slate th source of hia misinformation I <as the Chicago Inter Ocean. which sta f ed that Crumpacker war opposed to the iucreaae. and thu.mislertd not only Mr H Jstead but probably thousands 6f others. And itiastnuoh as Mr. Halstead’.criticism baa caused our congress man’s true position to be published here, the discussion has done him no harm. In this connection s correction of an error is due from us. When Mr. Halstead’s irst card was published we comfiiented upon Mr. Crutnpackerh stand briefly, and tried to say that le was not opposed to inorersing the carriers salaries. But the little but important ‘•not” was accident ally left out by the type-setters thus making us say exactly the opposite of whaf we intended.
