What Ails the Big Sewer.

The prevailing subject of discussion over a large portion of the town, isr still the new Makemseif sewer, on account of its failure to carry off the water of Monday night’s heavy raid. Many etill think the main sewer is large enough, but that it is blocked with sand and dirt up above Division' street This conclusion seems largely based on the report that the lower portion of ths sewer has nut been carrying full of ivater since the rain- On this point however, Marshal Abbott says no one knot’s whether it is running full of water or not, there being no way to see into it. This being the case, the most reasonable conclusion on the information now obtainable is simply ihut the sewer is not large enough to carry off the great amount of water which falls on the half section or more of the sewer’s drainage area.
