White County Man’s Invention.
James C. Mitchell, of Reynolds, White county, has invented a new smokeless powder and has applied for a patent on his invention and for which great things are claimed. In addition to being smokeless the powder is said to have three times the explosive- power of ordinary powder without any recoil. It is claimed that it will carry a bullet three miles from a No 3 Winchester make of 1895, will drive a bullet through a thirty-six inch oak tree, seventy inches of pine or or s& one-inch steel plate. Capitalists have b en interested and arrangements made for the manufacture ot the powder as. soon as the patent is granted.
