A Frank Statement From the Churches

To the Members and Their Families of the Baptist, Christian, Methodist and Presbyterian Churches. Public attention has been called through the press of the city to the fact that many members of the above named churches were about to be associated with the dancing school now being organized in this city. If the published reports are true it would seem that there is a wide-spread interest being awakened here in this form of social amusement. As your pastors we join in this most earnest appeal to the members and their families of the above named churches that we may remind you that the dance is under the ban of disapproval of all Christian Ohurchee. All branches of the Church in their great Councils have called attention to the influence of the dance as detrimental to the Christian life. And we desire to state that it is our conviction that this form of amusement is exceedingly dangerouß to the Christian life and call upon our people to give heed to their lives that they may be acceptable unto God and unspotted before the world.
