There is quite a row raging out iu Nebraska. Rockefeller tff-rs $75,000 of his ill-got wealth to the state university, which represents probably the few odd cents of excess that be made when he sprang the prioo of ooal-oil the last time to pay his latest contribution io the Obioago University. Tins Nebraska gift was oenpled with the condition that the people raise $25,000 more. The Ohanoellor of the University wants the money, but half the people in the state are opposed to accepting it. They don’t likßockefeller’s way of making bis wealth, taerefora they think they ought not to accept it. This does not seem a very wis j view to take. It is a good deal as though the people of Rensselaer and hundreds, of other plaoes should refuse to take Oarnegie’s library donation, because he made a Lrge part of bis money, not by honest developement of a great systems of iron industries, but by the sale of those industries to a trust, aud through the trust to the people, at enormously inflated prices. These men have got this enormous wealth in their hands and the proper policy is not to oontpel them to keep it, but rather to give them every eno mragement to distribute it where it will benefit the people. To illustrate this point an incident is recalled where an old minister was passing down the street one d iy when b 9 w is ao oo3led by a sal mu keeper. Reaching oat n oiin il\e saloo-i keeper boldly said, '‘ilerj parson is a dol lari made soiling whiskey’ 1 not thinking the preacher wmM accept money from suoh a sourceBut the reverend gentleman took the money with the remark, "thank you sir, I will put that dollar to much use.”
