No Court House Yet For Kentland.
Kentland has still some time to wait before that new court house is erected there. The Newton County Conuoil was ic session this week, end the proposition to appropriate $25,000 for a building at Kentland was considered. There were seven members of the council present, but one went away and did not vote. The other six voted three for and three against. It takes a two thirds vote to make each an appropriation at a special oonnoil meeting, like this, but a majority vote only is needed at the regular annual meeting " The annual mooting will be in September, and perhaps the appropriation will be made then If it ia n >t, there is said to be an intention of asking tbe oonrte to mandate the Council. If this is done it will put the whole question into the oourts again, with years of litigation still to pass through. In the meantime tbe latest proposition is said to be to plow up the court bouse yard at Kentland and plant corn on it. It is big enough and rich enough to raise a whole lot of oorn. This last’ proposition is to be taken wirh some grains of allowance, as well as of oorn. Possibly however corn in the liqnid form is what will be put iu, there.
