‘The more light we get on the workings of the tariff,” says the" Indianapolis News, “the greater promise there will be of relief from the burden.” The most light the country ever pot on the tariff all at once was when the only tanff-for-revenue law the American people have expsrienced in this generation was eDaoted ten years ago. In fact, the illumination was so general that the Demooratio vote in the suooeeding oongresei»afn elections was exceedingly light, ao light, that every Democratic member of congress from Indiana fliokered dear out.
We aee by the Crown Point papers that George Long the farmer of near Dyer, the kilting of whose team, tmd supposed fatal injnringof himself has been related, was ntft badly hurt after all. His wagon was struck by the belated Monon train, on the Erie tracks, on last Saturday night, or rather early Sunday morning, and be taken back to a hospital at Hammond. He was unconscious until the train left again, but no speoial injuries were fpund, and he returned home the next day, apparently as well as ever. He was probably asleep on the wagon whqn it was struck, and was thrown about£3o feet.
Hubby tip to Snuff.
Hebron News: Kouts boasts of a man, who, though married fifteen years, kisses bis wife every time he leaves home. Hebron can go that a few better: He has been married over twenty years and not only kisses his wife every time he leaves home, bnt kisses the hired girl every time his wife leaves home.
To File Friendly Suit.
A friendly suit will r be brought at Indianapolis and taken to the Supreme court to determine whether or not a child may be kept from school beoause it is not vacoinated. The truancy law provides that all healthy children between the ages of 7 and 14 years must go to school, but another law also provides that a Board of Health has the power to adopt a rule that all children must be vaccinated before they go to sobool. Throughout the entire state there have been many bitter controversies on this point.
More Engines For Monon.
In the near future the motive power of the Monon is to br greatly augmented. In the past few years the company bas added about twenty first-olass looomo tives to its equipment, bnt still the business of the road has increased at snob a rapid rate that several weeks ago the Monon was compelled to borrow engines from another road. There is seemingly no end to the volume of freight that the road is oalled upon to handle. Four new engines from the Brooks woru.s will arrive about April 1 and will be plaoed in service palling their freignt between Lafayette and Haoßnond. They are of the consolidated type and are powerful engines.
The Forestry Farm.
It ought to be understood by everybody that owns land in Indiana that the forestry farm the state has purchased and is financing is to be simply an example auH objeot lesson in the reforestation of the state. The lack of interest in the matter, and the failure of so many people to grasp the [soope of the movement on the part of the state leads one to the oouolusion that there is an impression abroad that the state forest will in some occult way make trees grow in bare places all over the state without the formality of planting seeds. The state forestry is simply a school of forestry; an example of what can be done and ought "to be done in the way o: growing trees —Brookville American.

TOO MUCH MEDICINE. Tbe system continually wronged by overrating and ovefw drinking, and the debilitated condition aggravated by dosing with harsh nauseous drugs and medicines
Tbe excessive and indiscriminate use of medicines, in these days, cannot be too strongly condemned. The food you eat If properly digested, Is all the tonic you need. Only common sense is needed. The food must be digested and the bowels must not be allowed to clog. Preserve your health by preventing these conditions. Constipation surely leads to indigestion, biliousness, etc., and these conditions when neglected affect the condition of the blood, debilitate the system, rendering it susceptible to more serious ailments, and less able to resist such attacks. If your stomach has been abused by overeating, weakened by drugs or sickness, you won t have to stop eating or diet yourself. All you need Is something that will aid the stomach in its functions and relieve it from being constantly irritated by nndigested food. The purest and simplest remedy tor this purpose are the California Prune Wafers, a natural dissolvent made from the pure, frcsh fruit, a general laxative and sweetener of the stomach—no other medicine is necessary. When you are Bilious, It Is a sign that your Liver is out of order, and the poisonous bile, instead of being excreted from the body through the intestines, Is taken up in the blood. As a result of biliousness, the entire
