Fed A Great Multitude.

The “observatory” and bauque given by Rensselaer Lodg* Knights of Pythias, Friday night was probably in some respects tb* largest affair of the kind ever held in Jasper county. The number present was praotically 500. Th>exercises and banquet all tool plaoe in the spaoious and hand some armory hall, on the seoom floor of the new K. of P. building The lodge rooms on the third, both of tbe K. of P. and tbe Masons, were all thrown open t< tbe guests, also. The Edd\ orohestra missed the train tbe> expeoted to oome from Chicago, and did not arrive until 11:25 p m. To take the place of tbe musioal entertainment expeoted from the Eddys, a quick bargain was struok with the Rodney Stock Company, and they abandoned their expeoted performance at the opera housg, and instead gave a two hours vaudeville performance to the Knights and their guests, in the armory. Mr. Rodney, the manager, was "dead eaey" to work on this proposition, from tbe fact of his being himself an enthnsi astio K. of P. Their performance was greatly enjoyed by all present. After tbe vaudeville the sapper was served in the armory. It counted of obicken sandwiches, piokles, coffee, oake and ice oream etc., in unlimited quantities. After the supper was over, about midnight, suoh of the guests as so desired, danoed until about five o’clock, to the music of Eddy’s orchestra.
