Gifford Selling His Lands.
The statement recently published in this paper that B J. Giffoid waa to begin selling off bis great landed interests in this oounty, preparatory to retiring from active life, is amply confirmed by several reoeut land Bales be has made. He has made a number ot contracts for sales of farms that are known of, and perhaps others net vet reported. The 160 aore traot which oorners oa the Rensselaer corporation on the northeast, long known as the Jaley Parkison farm, is sold to James Halligan. The deed is not recorded yet, and the prioe therefore unknown, The 80 acres, whioh corners on this other 160, on the northeast, adjoining the Bruce White farm, on the east, and formerly owned by Isaac Leavel, is sold to Geo. O. Pumphrey, of Rensselaer. The prioe is 970 per aore. Another sale reliably stated to have been made by him, is an 80 aore traot east of the old Ans Moore farm, in Hanging Grove. The name of purchaser aud prioe are not yet known here. This 80, by the way is one Mr. Gifford bought to make the torn on when he expected to bring bis railroad to Rensselaer, by the Bangiog Grove route. Just as the 160 and the 80 acre tracts, northeast of town, and above mentioned, were bought to open a route for bis road into Rensselaer ever the Barkley route. Still another land sale just made by him is a part of the former August Goepp farm, whioh lies partly in Giliam and partly in. Hanging Grove. He has sold 160 acres and perhaps more of tbie farm, boVto whom and for what price is also still unknown here.
