Indiana World’s Fair Notes.
Indiana Day at the Exposition has been ohanged from Sept. 15 to Sept. 1. The Indiana building for the exposition is considered to be 90 per oant completed A. W. Pettera of Mulberry has contributed a unique “sign” made of seeds and grasses native to the state for the agricultural display. It will mark the Clinton oounty exhibit.
New Harmony is preparing to make an exhibit of the interesting historical relics of New Harmony oommnnity whioh Robert Dale Owen attempted to found tberef Many interesting historical documents will be loaned by the town for the display. Indiana visitors to the exposition who have never visited Indianapolis will have an opportunity to view an excellent model of the Indiana State-house whioh will be displayed there. The model is an exact reproduction on a small scale of the state building and will give people who have never seen it a better idea of the beautiful structure than they have ever gained from pioturea. Clore & Overstreet are proceeding rapidly with their plans for the special corn show over whioh they will have oharge at the exposition. They have been supplied with hundreds of bushels of oorn from various counties for the exhibit. They are still keeping their plans a secret so that no other state will have a ohanoe to duplicate the Indiana oorn show.
The interior deoorationa of the Indiana building promise to outshine those of any other state. Architect W. 8. Mahurin of Fort Wayne has given some of bis very best work in designing these decorations. The fact that over J.. 300 inoandesoent lights are needed to effectively show off the “trimmings” will show that a great deal has been planned in this respeot.
Chief MoAbee of the state inspection bureau has completed bis arrangements for an exhibit of the methods of his office to be made in tbe sociological department at the exposition. The display consists of a collection of the records of tbe office with samples on the blanks used iu collecting data. At tbe Paris exposition of 1900 Mr. MoAbee was awarded first prize for having tbe best office system of all those employed by the different states.
Tbe plan to have an exhibit of tbe artioles of ohina, painting, needlework and pyrography offered for exhibition in the ladies’ department at the exposition, in Indianapolis previous to shipping them' to St. Louis, has been abandoned. Chairman C. C. Shirley of the committee in oharge of the work has decided that such an exhibition as was planned would detract from tbe interest in the display at St. Louis, and so the projeot has been abandoned.
