Republicans Should Not Be Burned.
It is announced that the Coliseum, one of toe Chicago buildings ordered closed after the Ir quois theater fire, will be reopened for for the national Republican convention. There may be people who think any sort of building good enough for a Republican convention, but it is a narrow view to take. No doubt the convention that meets in Chicago next summer will contain some good men who ouuht not to burned, either in this world or the next. —Louisville C >urier Journal.
No County Assessor To be Elected. The published call for the Re puolioau county convention mentioned the County Assessor as one of the officers to be nominated and elected this year. This however, has been found to be a mistake. A law passed last year has been looked up, and Attorney General Taylor consulted, and be bolds that the law has the effects of continuing the terms of the present county assessor until after the election of 1906. The law also makes the county assessor a four year office. Therefore no assessor will be nominated this year, and the call has been amended by striking out that office, where it was mentioned.
