Where Charity Is Greatly Needed.
I Editor of Republican: Our citizens "will recall with horror that rm the 7th, Widow Gant of Union township had the great misfortune to have her house and entire contents destroyed by fire, all their clothing including the winters supply of provisions were burned up, and she with her four helpless and fatherless little children are left destitute and homeless in this cold mid-winter weither.
Her friends and good neighbors are trying to secure funds with which to replace the lost home, and a generous public are earnestly and cordially invited to assist in this most praiseworthy object. Bedding, clothing and provisions are b dly needed. We are confident that this urgent appeal will meet with a hearty response from the chartable people of this hospitable city. Such things as are needed for immediate use can be left at this office.
MANY CITIZENS.
