Death of an Old Settler.
Montgomery P. Mitchell, one of Gillam township's earliest settlers died last Wednesday, He was 93 years old, and at his death prob.bly the oldest man in Jasper county. His wife with whom he bad lived over 60 years, survives him, aged 91 years. The cause of his death was a cancer on face, and he had been sick a long time. He had a large family and among them were 0. P. Mitchell, a former superintendent of the Rensselaer schools, and L. 8. Mitohelf, also formerly well known here. Mrs. Will Porter, whose sad death occured by aooi- ’ dental shooting, in Kansas, a number of years ago, was bis daughter. was held Friday.
