The Washington Post credits a white-haired matron of that city with a clever musical Joke. She was listening, in company with a young man from the State Department, to the music of a pianist. The selections were nil new to the young man till the “Wedding March” of Mendelssohn began. “That’s familiar,” said he. “I’m not strong on music, but I know I've hoard that before. What la it?” The matron’s eyes twinkled with mischief. “That." said she, "is the ‘Maiden's Prayer.’ ”
