Another Special Number.
The Scientific Amerioau has issued another special number, this time devoted to the Iron and Steel industry of the United States. Technically considered, the number is one of the best of the special issues which have so far been prepared by the Scientific American. Eaoh article bears the stamp of absolute certainty of fact—a oertainty gamed by a personal examination of eaoh of the plants described. Instead of giving a ooudeused account of a large number of less important works, the editors have wisely adopted the plan of selecting a oertain number of large industrial establishments, and of giving them a very thorough description. Among the more notable artioles of the issne may be mentioned those on armor plate and gun steel, strnctural shapes, tube making, chain making, steel and wire making, and rail making. The number is dressed in a handsome colored cover.
